Puratos was born in 1919 in Brussels, and over the years has become one of the largest ingredient suppliers for the Baker and Confectioner in the world. The company is now present in over 100 countries, the heart of the company still being in Belgium, and the ingredients manufactured are divided into 3 core areas: Bakery, Patisserie and Chocolate.

The Puratos Group has 36 innovation centres around the world, one of the key facilities being in the UK, in Buckingham. The UK has a strong R&D, Sales & Marketing, and Operations team which works very closely with the specialist teams in Brussels. The group works around 10 core specialist areas: Bakery – emulsifiers, enzymes, sour dough & yeast, improvers & bread mixes; Confectionery – baked confectionery (e.g. cakes), fruits, margarines and creams; Chocolate – real Belgian chocolate (Belcolade) and bakers chocolate (Carat).


Puratos is the only company exclusively dedicated to activities in the Bakery, Confectionery and Chocolate markets, with a truly global approach, making it a unique player in the industry. More importantly, a great tool for our customers to take advantage of.
